When you accept an invitation and activate your account we collect the personal information you provide (name, contact details, professional history, interests and preferences) together with the technical information generated by your use of The Collective (log-in times, pages viewed, events attended, introductions made).
02Why we collect it
We use your information to operate The Collective — to verify your identity, personalise your experience, curate relevant introductions, deliver events and communications, and safeguard the community.
03How introductions work
Introductions and matches surfaced through The Collective use your stated interests, professional profile and patterns of engagement. Introductions are never made without your knowledge and are always subject to your consent before contact details are shared with another member.
04Profile visibility
Your profile is visible to other members of The Collective and to the directors and staff operating it on behalf of Ethos. You may control certain fields through your profile settings.
05Events
When you register for a Collective event we share the minimum information required to run the event (name, dietary and accessibility requirements) with the relevant venue or partner, under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
06Email communications
We send transactional emails (invitations, event confirmations, security notifications), operational communications about your membership, and curated updates from The Collective. You may adjust preferences in your account settings; transactional messages cannot be turned off while your account remains active.
08Analytics
We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use third-party advertising cookies.
09UK GDPR
We process personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. The lawful bases we rely on are performance of the membership contract, our legitimate interests in operating a private community, and, where required, your consent.
10Data retention
We retain personal information for the duration of your membership and for a limited period thereafter for legal, regulatory and legitimate business reasons. Acceptance records are retained for the life of the account plus seven years.
11Member rights
You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict and object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.
